In 2018 I joined the Lacey Township Preschool team and began teaching PSD -Preschool Disabled and Inclusion. Once again I fell in love with preschool as well as my new district and my amazing new team. I immediately signed up at Kean University to complete my masters in Special Education and in May 2021 I will finally graduate. My aim is to hang my hat at the Lacey School District and be a foundational part of a growing early childhood program is a community oriented district.

Inspired by my overwhelming love for Books, Books and more Books along with the need for some funding in the Preschool Program where I taught, I helped to coordinate a book fair to raise money and help get us BOOKS!!
The theme of the book fair was Circus. My class kicked off the decorating for this event by creating a hallway filled with clowns. The Book fair was a HUGE success.

GIRL SCOUTS
For the last 10 years I have served as an Active Girl Scout leader in our community. During these 10 years I have led a troop of girls ranging in size from 26 - 13 Girl Scouts depending on the age group and level. My troop proudly continues on today with thirteen 9th graders. Throughout my decade of scouting in this area I have coordinated various events to help make our community a better place. Some of these events included a variety of services to enrich the lives of the local elderly community, multiple clothing, coat and mitten drives to help families in our community stay warm, an Adopt -a-Spot beautification project outside of the Ocean Acres Community Center, as well as mural painting in the Ocean Acres Schools.

Through the years we have collected items to send overseas to our military, collected for our local animal shelter and helped stock our community food banks. Annually I lead my troop in an leaf clean up project for the elderly, as well as dune grass planting and more. Community Service is a big part of who I am and I have strived to create a love of helping our community within my troop. I am very proud of the community I live in and work each day to do my part to continue to make is a great place to live.

INTERNATIONAL DAY EVENTS
The teacher in may has always incorporated a variety of learning experiences for my Girl Scout troop. Some of my favorite experiences involve multiple International Day events I have hosted for upwards of 300 girls. These events offered hundreds of girls of various ages an opportunity to represent a country, state or culture. During these events I guided my girls in their research and helped them implement a representation of their chosen state or country always encouraging them to improve their public speaking skills. I am thankful that I have had the opportunity to organize and implement events such as these influencing hundreds of girls throughout the years.

TEACHABLE MOMENTS
One of my favorite teaching opportunities in Girl Scouting was when I conducted a year long Flat Stacey Project with twenty-three 2nd graders. This project was a huge success and allowed me the opportunity to teach the girls basic life skills such as addressing an envelope, writing a letter and some loads of geography skills as we utilized globes and maps to track of all of our Flat Stacey adventures.

CREATING GOOD DIGITAL CITIZENS
Along with being an Educator I have always had a passion for technology. My troop is growing up during a technological boom and I have made it my mission to help them become technologically prepared for their future, as well as good digital citizens. Throughout the years I have coordinated multiple classes and trainings including some at the Apple store in order to teach them how to best utilize technology. We have also worked on technology projects to get their message out in the world. Here is a result of one of the videos we created.

The above video was part of a Girl Power project to help younger Girls Defy stereotypes and build positive self esteem images.
Girl Scouting over the past decade has allowed me so many opportunities to give back to my community, grow as an educator, improve as a a leader, help girls grow strong and guide them to be community servants, leaders and digital citizens of tomorrow.
